Mentoring Program with the Office of Children and Family Services:
KRVC is helping to spread the word about a great opportunity through involvement in OCFS’ NYS Mentoring Program. Program participants are trained as mentors for students at risk of dropping out of school and can really make a difference in their lives. This unique program takes place in a school-based setting, one-to-one between the trained mentor and a matched mentee with a school coordinator present who is selected by the principal. The program provides background checks and training for volunteer mentors and mentees, and is available statewide. Outcomes for at-risk children that have mentors show greater participation in school, better attendance and higher graduation and college admission rates.
