Launch of the “Marble Hill Community Needs Assessment” report by our NYC Small Business Services Neighborhood 360° Fellow Camelia Tepelus

iMarch 12, 2019

At the KRVC Board meeting on March 12, 2019, we presented the “Marble Hill Community Needs Assessment” report by Camelia Tepelus, NYC Small Business Services Neighborhood 360° Fellow and our Marble Hill Project Director. The study conducted between June 2018 and March 2019 contains detailed demographic, socio-economic, employment and census data on the Marble Hill residential and commercial areas. Based on stakeholder interviews, shopper and merchant surveys, and direct observation, the report highlights the most pressing needs of the Marble Hill community and commercial corridor, and provides recommendations for improvement opportunities on sanitation, merchant organizing, public safety, beautification and activation of public spaces. It is our hope that this report will inform future advocacy, activities and policy improvements to attract the resources needed for the Marble Hill community, both along the commercial corridor and in the residential areas.

We also shared a detailed “Overview of KRVC’s Work in Marble Hill Summer 2018 – Spring 2019”, presenting the commercial district marketing events, beautification, clean-up and community outreach activities conducted by our Marble Hill team over the last year. We invite all interested community advocates – merchants, individuals and any other groups - to coordinate efforts and mobilize resources to support future work in the Marble Hill community, and we thank all our project partners for their support!

Both documents are available for download on the KRVC website. If you would like a hard copy of the Marble Hill Needs Assessment, please contact us.
